Searches For ‘Why Am I Dreaming About My Ex’ Rise 2450% During Quarantine
If you’ve been experiencing vivid dreams the past few weeks then you’re not alone. In fact, some have had dreams so vivid they can remember every single detail the following day.
The spread of Coronavirus has changed almost every single aspect of society – from the way we socialize with each other to staying in quarantine and only leaving our houses for essential purposes – so it’s no surprise that our subconscious minds are going to take a while to catch up.
Regardless, these types of dreams can be confusing and even a bit worrying for some, so it’s also no surprise that Google searches for what it means when your teeth fall out in a dream have also been on the rise.

The digital marketing firm AGY47 has released new research which compared peoples’ searches between this year and the same time last year for the terms Why do I keep having weird dreams? which rose by 200% and Why do I keep having bad dreams? which rose by 190%.
Once you begin to break down what kind of dreams people are having, though, you start to notice a pattern. What emerges as the most common one to occur during quarantine – at least in terms of the number of people searching on Google – appears to involve ex-boyfriends or girlfriends.
Searches for Why am I dreaming about my ex? have increased by a massive 2450% compared to this time last year, with many people attempting to understand why current circumstances are making them think about their old boyfriend or girlfriend. Could they be looking for signs that they should get back with their ex?
Marilyn Devonish is a NeuroSuccess Coach and founder of the coaching, training and consultancy organization TranceFormations. She states this increase in searches could have everything to do with the current lock down taking place in most countries.
She explained: Dreaming of your ex could be metaphorically dreaming about times gone by, and sadness about losing those times. If you feel your ex abandoned you, this can be around self-acceptance, not being cared for or feeling left out and not included. If you were dominated in the relationship, it can be a reminder to take your power back and affirm your own sense of strength.
Dreaming of falling is the second most common dream people are searching for, with a 600% increase in the term What does it mean when you dream about falling?
Marilyn noted this could be because falling is linked to being unsure, overwhelmed or as though the control has been taken out of your hands – all of the feelings we might be experiencing as our normal lives have been temporarily taken away from us.
Dreaming of losing teeth and dreaming of hair falling out tied for third, with both of them seeing a 400% increase in Google searches. This could be because of a variety of things, Marilyn stated – anything from not full understanding a situation to something coming to an abrupt end.
It seems that while our dreams might be a little strange, there could actually be some logic and science to it – and if you’ve experienced this it’s nice to know that you aren’t the only one!
