If there’s one topic country songwriters return to again and again, it’s love. I mean, who doesn’t love a good romantic country song? When you fall in love, it makes your heart sing (and if that romance falls apart, you need some good music to help you wallow in it). Although there are great romantic love songs in every genre of music, country love songs have been a bread-and-butter staple of the genre going back generations. This type of music is especially popular in one particular US state – Texas. In fact, the state has it’s own unique genre of country music called Texas country (or “red dirt country”) music. If you’re pining after a new person, celebrating that first blush of love, or devastated that your feelings are unrequited, there’s probably a Texas country love song that’s put what you’re going through into words. There have been so many great songs that have come out that it’s hard to pick a favorite. So we narrowed it down some for you, to 9 of the most popular.
Whether you’re looking for the perfect first dance song at your upcoming wedding or you’re just a sap for good Texas country love songs, these 9 hits have proved themselves to be some of the best Texas country love songs of our time. Some are old and some are new, but they all have two things in common: They’re romantic, and they’re country!

Some lyrics in the song, such as “there’s a dog house rose that God knows I didn’t send soon enough” and “sittin’ in the middle of a crippled kitchen table barely standing up from where I kicked it once” describe different situations the man has put his woman through, while other lyrics like “she shines forgiveness from her patient eyes” and “she’s never given up on this hard man to love” describe how the woman has always been forgiving. The chorus of the song describes him being thankful to God that she still loves him and has never given up on him.
2. William Clark Green – She Likes the Beatles
William Clark Green is a Texas A&M graduate from Flint, Texas. The line “She likes the Beatles and I like the Stones” is very transcending. It doesn’t matter who you are, everyone who knows anything about Western music knows what you’re saying about relationships when you describe it as “She likes the Beatles and I like the Stones.” In a nutshell, this is a song that celebrates the saying “opposites attract.” For a while, you wonder whether this is going to be a song about true love or breaking up, and that makes it even more fun to listen to.
